Eurobarometer: Romanians Slightly Less Pessimistic About Personal Finance Outlook

05.03.2011 By Florentina Dragu

Around 67% of Romanian households said their financials had worsen in the first quarter of 2011 from the same period a year earlier, but only 43% believe the situation will deteriorate further over the next 12 months, a survey from Eurobarometer shows.

Nearly 84% of the polled Romanians said the country's economy declined in the past year, with 56% expecting things to get worse this year.

More than half of Romanians face difficulties in covering day-to-day expenses, while a quarter of the interviewed reported debts.

Romanian consumer confidence rose to minus 46 points in the first quarter, from minus 48 in the same period of 2010.

The Eurobarometer was compiled by GfK and polled 1,000 Romanians.
