Parliament Debates Committee Report Investigating 2009 Election

Romania's Parliament on Monday debates in plenary the report of the parliamentary committee investigating the 2009 elections.

Lawmakers are then expected to vote whether to approve the report, the committee's conclusions, and proposed measures.

Committee president Oana Florea presented the conclusions of the report on January 23. It found that, in the absence of voter ballots, it may be deduced there have been actions influencing the election.

 

Third Party Liability Insurance Prices Calculated Under New Criteria

Reference prices for third-party motor vehicle liability insurance (RCA) will be calculated using new criteria, said financial supervision authority vice-president Cornel Coca Constantinescu.

He said some prices will rise, others will go down. “Tariffs will be calculated by different coordinates than last year and it's important they stay around a 36% buffer which makes the difference between low and medium-risk clients and high-risk clients,”  Constantinescu said.

 

Snow, Heavy Wind Warning in SE Romania; Harbors Closed

Meteorologists issued a code yellow weather warning expecting snowfall and heavy wind blizzards in southern and southeastern Romania until Monday morning.

In counties Constanta and Tulcea, the warning has been extended and harbors remain closed. The warning is valid until Monday evening.

 

High School Graduation Exam Starts Monday

This year's first session of the high school graduation exam starts Monday for over 177,000 high school seniors and students who finished high school during previous years.

The exams in the first session take place between February 12 and February 22 and will consist of oral evaluations. Written exams take place in late June.
