Justice Laws Committee Meets End-January

The parliamentary committee drafting justice laws meets at the end of January to amend civil and criminal legislation, said committee president Florin Iordache.

Iordache said no one rushed to submit amendments.

He said the committee will draft bills amending the criminal code, the criminal procedure code, and the civil procedure code.

 

Bucharest Airports Revenues Top RON1B in 2017

The Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB) posted revenues of RON1.08 billion in 2017, 8.3% higher than in 2016.

The airports also posted 45% growth in gross profit, to RON389.7 million.

The company said in a statement growth was driven by higher passenger traffic.

 

Romania Built Just 15 Km of Highway in 2017

Romania's national road infrastructure administration company relaunched construction works on several hundred kilometers of highways in 2017, but just  15.4 km of new highway are fit for traffic.

The total length of highways in Romania now reaches 748 km.

 

Bucharest Orthodox Cathedral To Be Ready by Nov 30, 2018

The largest Orthodox cathedral in Romania will be consecrated on November 30, 2018, on St Andrew's feast day, said church patriarch Daniel.

The Bucharest city council on October 31, 2017 allocated RON1 million from the city budget to works on the cathedral. The allocation was decided with 30 votes in favor and 17 against.

 

Avalanche Risk in Bucegi, Fagaras Mountains

Avalanche risks are considerable in Romania's Bucegi and Fagaras Mountains and snow at Balea Lac, Sibiu county, exceeded 120 cm.

Meteorologists warn of high avalanche risks at altitudes above 1,800 meters and a fresh, light coating of 10-15 cm of snow is expected to fall.

At altitudes below 1,800 m, avalanche risks are moderate, at 2 on a scale of 1 to 5.
