Gazprom Studies Economic Viability Of Building LNG Terminal On Black Sea

Russian gas giant Gazprom is studying the economic viability of the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on the Black Sea, to export raw material, according to Itar Tass.

The plant could have an annual capacity of 500,000 tons with further expansion to 1 million tons. Gazprom has already started bids for the necessary studies. At the same time, the company is taking into account the building of a floating LNG plant.

Russia plans to triple sales of liquefied natural gas on the global market and enhance cooperation with Asian countries. (Adevarul)

 

ANAF Identifies Undeclared Incomes Of RON87M At First 10 Checked Wealthiest People

Romania's tax authority ANAF has managed to discover the first irregularities in the fortunes of Romania’s wealthiest people after 25 years of stealing from the state budget.

The first ten persons in the group of 336 with fortunes exceeding $20 million, checked by ANAF, had undeclared incomes of RON86.9 million.

The authority said it will continue investigations but, according to analysts, the checkups came too late, when the state assets “pouch” is already empty and the undeclared money can no longer be traced.(Puterea)

 

Pfizer Seals $160B Merger Deal With Allergan

Drugmakers Pfizer and Allergan have reached a merger agreement to create the largest pharmaceutical group in the world, in a transaction worth $160 billion, Bloomberg reports.

The offer is the highest in the healthcare industry and evaluates Allergan shares at $363.63 per share, compared with $312.46 at Friday’s closing.

Pfizer boss Ian Read will be chief executive and chairman of the merged company, with Allergan boss Brent Saunders becoming president and chief operating officer.

Pfizer produces medicines such as Viagra, Lyrica and Prevnar, while Allergan produces Botox and Namenda, among others. (Romania Libera)

 

Tariceanu: PSD-UNPR-ALDE Coalition Is No Longer Working

ALDE co-president Calin Popescu Tariceanu stated that PSD-UNPR-ALDE coalition no longer functioned after the resignation of Ponta government, but he will propose that the former alliance partners should support in Parliament the measures adopted during their governing.

“I have, let’s say, a feeling of discomfort. We were forced to take a stand on our own, after ascertaining the government’s resignation. Subsequently, we noticed that our coalition is no longer working, that everybody was trying to find a certain positioning,” Tariceanu said, when asked about the relations between PSD, UNPR and ALDE.
 

ALDE co-president Daniel Constantin said that, although the former conservatives have always been consequent in the relation with PSD, the recent events have positioned the parties differently.  (Puterea)

 

Over 36,000 Physicians And Pharmacists Got Professional Certificates To Work Abroad In Last Eight Years

Over 36.000 Romanian physicians, pharmacists and dentists got the professional certificates necessary for working abroad in the last eight years, according to the latest data of Health Ministry.

In the last five years, 88 plastic surgeons and 348 anesthetists left the Romanian medical system.

Nearly 2,500 Romanian physicians asked the College of Physicians for professional certificates necessary for working abroad last year, most of them family physicians, gynecologists, and surgeons. (Adevarul)
