Banks In Romania See Loan Volumes Peter Out

End-August, banks in Romania had loans granted to individuals and companies worth 213.6 billion lei (EUR48.4 billion), the equivalent of almost RON8.5 billion below the level of the year earlier period. New loans (mostly leu-denominated ones) were not enough to offset the abrupt deterioration of foreign-currency loan portfolios.
