Romania's KRUK International, the local unit of Polish top debt collector KRUK, has processed total receivable worth over 2 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.091) in 2010, general manager Isabela Iacob said in a statement Tuesday.

"In 2010, we've processed over 500,000 files with a total value exceeding RON2 billion and we've purchased nearly 70% of the receivables sold on the Romanian market," Iacob said.

Founded in 2007, KRUK International employs over 200 staff and offers debt-collecting services to 20 institutions in the banking, leasing and insurance, telecom and utility sectors.

The mother company reported net profit of over EUR9 million in 2010, on turnover of EUR29.5 million.

"In 2010, in Poland and Romania, KRUK Group companies accepted for collection or purchased close to PLN6 billion (around EUR1.5 billion) worth of debt, up by one fourth on the year. The past year was especially busy on the Romanian market as the value of receivables purchased nearly tripled in comparison with 2009," said Piotr Krupa, chief executive officer of the Polish group.
