Mariana Diaconescu Named President Of Asirom, After Boris Schneider's Departure

Romanian insurer Asirom on Monday appointed vice-president Mariana Diaconescu as Board president, replacing Boris Schneider who left the company.

Contacted by MEDIAFAX, Diaconescu confirmed the appointment, adding Schneider left to pursue other professional opportunities.

Diaconescu became vice-president of Asirom in 2005, the same year when Schneider was appointed as head of the company. Prior to this position, Diaconescu was the president of state-owned lender Eximbank.

Asirom was founded in 1991 and is owned by Austria's Vienna Insurance Group.
