New Loan Level Highest In Five Years

Last year was a good year for banks, despite legislative turmoil and gloomy forecasts by bankers, so new retail and corporate leu and euro-denominated loans stood at more than 67 billion lei (EUR15 billion), an increase of 5.5% on 2015, according to Romania’s central bank data. New loans were at a five-year high in 2016.
