Romanian Banks' External Debt Stood At EUR23B In 2011

Bank external debt at the end of 2011 was at a level comparable to that at the end of 2010. Long-term debt decreased by around EUR300 million, but short-term debt climbed significantly. This indicates that bank confidence in Romania's economy did not decline substantially in 2011 and analysts anticipate external capital flows will remain relatively constant or drop slightly this year.
