Bucharest Shares Close Up, After 3-Day Downward Streak

The Bucharest bourse closed Wednesday with a slight increase, after session-long oscillation and three days of decline, on a lower traded value.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C rose 0.14% on the day, to 3,426.88, while the 10-share blue-chip index BET increased 0.31%, to 5,780.64.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, rose 0.5% on the day, to 25,152.96.

The BET Extended index, or BET-XT, closed at 540.07, up 0.32% on the day, but BET-NG, tracking energy companies, dropped 0.4%, to 795.94.

Trades unfolded Wednesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to 30.43 million lei (EUR7.4 million), lower than RON47.35 million in the previous day.

The Proprietatea fund was today's top-traded issuer. Its stock rose 1.3% on the day, to RON0.545, on a traded value of RON9.74 million.

SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) was the second-top traded issuer. Its shares closed up 0.36%, to RON1.399, on trades worth a total RON3.37 million.

Other popular stock Wednesday included oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO), down 0.44% to RON0.4265, chemical company Azomures (AZO.RO), up 2.22% to RON0.69 and state-owned gas transporter Transgaz (TGN.RO), up 0.16% to RON249. (EUR1=RON4.1127)
