Bucharest Shares Open Down On Low Traded Values

The Bucharest-listed shares were losing almost 2% in early trade Tuesday, on reduced traded values, continuing the downward trend from the previous session.

At around 1056 local time (GMT0756), the Bucharest stock exchange's composite index BET-C was down 1.8% from Monday's closing level, while the main index BET was down 1.75%.

BET-FI, the index tracking Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds SIFs, was losing 1.7%.

The extended blue-chip index BET-XT was down 1.8%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG was losing 2%.

The bourse's total traded value was nearing 3.3 million lei (EUR0.8 million), halved from the value at around the same time in the previous session.

Proprietatea fund was the top-traded issuer in early trade Tuesday, followed by the shares of the SIFs and of Transgaz (TGN.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO).
