Leu Ends Flat Vs Euro In Quiet Market

The Romanian leu traded in ranges against the euro in late session Tuesday and closed nearly flat on the day, amid a quiet market.

The leu closed at 4.121/4.123 per euro, from 4.1205/4.123 per euro Monday.

Elsewhere in the region, the Hungary's forint was up 0.4% against the euro, while the Polish zloty was unchanged on the day.

The leu opened flat versus the euro and appreciated slightly in early trade, to a high of 4.118 per euro. It reached the day's low at 4.125 per euro in the afternoon.

Romania central bank set the leu's reference at 4.1233 to the euro, slightly stronger on the day.

On the money market, overnight rates rose to 4%-4.5% a year, from 2%-2.5% a year Monday.
