Leu Firms Vs Euro In Thin Pre-Easter Trade

Romania’s leu gained a little over 0.2% against the euro in a sleepy session Friday and closed at 4.078/4.08 units, from 4.087/4.089 units a day earlier.

Romania's leu gained a little over 0.2% against the euro in a sleepy session Friday and closed at 4.078/4.08 units, from 4.087/4.089 units a day earlier.

The leu opened up at 4.083/4.085 per euro and further gained ground, trading below 4.08 per euro for most of the session, amid low volumes.

The central bank set the leu's reference at 4.0815 to the euro, the strongest rate since March 2010.

On the money market, overnight rates rose to 5.9%-6.4% a year, from 2.3%-2.8% a year Thursday.
