Leu Higher Vs Euro In Early Trade

Romania’s leu opened higher against the euro in a quiet Thursday morning, with its peers in the region posting minor fluctuations versus the European common currency.

The leu opened at 4.122/4.123 per euro, from 4.127/4.128 per euro at Wednesday's closing.

At around 10:05 local time, the leu traded at 4.12/4.121 to the euro, after hitting an early low of 4.125 to the euro.

Romanian central bank set the leu's reference at 4.1184 per euro Wednesday, 0.3% weaker on the day.

On the money market Thursday morning, overnight rates were flat at 2.7%-3.2% a year.
