Leu Opens Down Vs Euro In Quiet Market

The Romanian leu opened lower against the euro in a quiet Wednesday morning, with peers in the region trading in narrow ranges versus the European common currency.

The leu opened at 4.111/4.113 per euro, from 4.1055/4.107 per euro at Tuesday's closing.

At around GMT0710, the leu traded at 4.113/4.115 per euro.

The Romanian central bank set the leu's reference at 4.1.055 to the euro Tuesday, 0.3% weaker on the day.

On the money market Wednesday morning, overnight rates were at 4.5%-5% a year.
