Romania’s leu edged higher against the euro amid a quiet session Thursday, unaffected by a negative sentiment in the region as investors took a more cautious approach to risk assets.

Romania's leu edged higher against the euro amid a quiet session Thursday, unaffected by a negative sentiment in the region as investors took a more cautious approach to risk assets.

The leu closed at 4.099/4.1 per euro, from 4.104/4.105 per euro Wednesday.

It opened flat on the day and traded near 4.1 per euro for the first half of the session. It later advanced modestly against the euro, hitting the day's high of 4.097 units.

The central bank set the leu's reference at 4.1021 to the euro, 0.3% stronger on the day.

On the money market, overnight rates fell to 2.3%-2.8% a year from 2.5%-3% a year Wednesday.
