The Romanian leu opened Thursday a bit stronger versus the euro, in line with other currencies in the region, which were also posting timid gains.

The Romanian leu opened Thursday a bit stronger versus the euro, in line with other currencies in the region, which were also posting timid gains.

The leu opened at 4.103/4.1055 against the euro, slightly higher than 4.104/4.105 at closing the day before.

Within the first hour of trading, the leu continued to strengthen insignificantly and, at around GMT0710, it was trading at 4.1015/4.1025 to the European coin.

Romania's central bank set Wednesday the leu's reference at 4.114 to the euro, slightly stronger on the day.

On the money market Thursday morning, overnight rates were at 2.6%-3.1% a year, from 2.5%-3% a year the day before.
