Romanian Leu Holds Ground Throughout Session, Closes Stronger Vs Euro

The Romanian leu maintained the ground gained earlier versus the euro, closing stronger on the day, while other currencies in the region lost previous gains and were weaker in late session.

The Romanian leu maintained the ground gained earlier versus the euro, closing stronger on the day, while other currencies in the region lost previous gains and were weaker in late session.

The leu closed at 4.094/4.0955 to the euro, compared to 4.099/4.10 at closing Thursday.

Romania's currency opened at 4.0975/4.1025 to the euro and kept its gains by the end of the session.

The central bank's reference strengthened to 4.0966 units, from 4.1021 in the previous session.

On the money market, overnight rates were at 2.25%-2.75% a year, lower than 2.33%-2.83% a year in the previous session.
