Romanian Shares Close Up, Eyes On Banca Transilvania

The Bucharest bourse closed Wednesday on a rising trend, while investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and lender Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) provided almost half of the total traded value.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C rose 0.8% on the day, to 3,578.17, while the 10-share blue-chip index BET increased 0.74% on the day, to 5,987.61.

BET-FI, the index tracking Fondul Proprietatea and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, inched up 0.07%, to 26,595.15.

The Proprietatea fund, which weighs heaviest in the index, closed down 0.25%, to 0.5975 lei (EUR1=RON4.114), on a traded value of RON6.04 million.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, increased 0.56%, to 560.79, while energy companies tracker BET-NG closed at 840.82, up 0.98% on the day.

Trades unfolded Wednesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to RON32.29 million, with RON2.36 million coming from one deal market trade with the shares of chemical company Azomures (AZO.RO). Yesterday's traded value reached RON36.67 million.

Banca Transilvania was today's top-traded issuer. Its shares closed up 0.4%, to RON1.5, on a traded value of RON7.87 million.

State-owned gas transporter Transgaz (TGN.RO) closed up 0.75% on the day, to RON269.9, while SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) shares increased 0.37%, to RON1.635.
