Romanian Shares Open Up, Blue-Chips Inch Down

The Bucharest bourse was slightly in the green in early trade Friday, with the bulk of trading focusing on investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, while the blue-chip index BET was losing minor ground.

The Bucharest bourse was slightly in the green in early trade Friday, with the bulk of trading focusing on investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, while the blue-chip index BET was losing minor ground.

At around GMT0749, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.02%, while the BET index was slightly below par, down 0.02% on the day.

BET-FI, the index tracking the Proprietatea fund and the SIFs, was rising 0.26% on the day.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, was up 0.1%, while energy companies index BET-NG was up 0.64%.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange within the first hour of activity amounted to 5.82 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1021).

Popular stock early Friday included the Proprietatea fund, SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO), SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO) and medicine maker Biofarm (BIO.RO).
