Romanian Shares Open Up, Eyes On Financials

Bucharest-traded shares opened Monday with an upward tendency, on moderate activity, while most investment targeted investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the bank stocks.

Bucharest-traded shares opened Monday with an upward tendency, on moderate activity, while most investment targeted investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the bank stocks.

At around GMT0742, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.99%, while the 10-share blue-chip index BET was rising 1.27%.

BET-FI, the index tracking the Proprietatea fund and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, was up 0.05%.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, was up 0.89%, while the energy companies index BET-NG was down 0.38%.

Trades unfolded by GMT0744 amounted to 3.36 million lei (EUR1=RON4.0966).

Popular stock early Monday included the Proprietatea fund, lenders Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) and BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO), as well as SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) and state-owned gas transporter Transgaz (TGN.RO).
