Several shareholders of Bucharest bourse operator BVB (BVB.RO) Tuesday proposed the halving of share capital to 38.3 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1152), by slashing stock face value, and distributing the resulting funds as additional dividend.

People close to the matter told MEDIAFAX the shareholders in question hold some 10% of the company's stock, and one of them is Franklin Templeton, manager of investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO).

The bourse operator currently has a share capital of RON76.74 million, divided into 7.67 million shares with a face value of RON10.

The proposed item would be included on the agenda for the upcoming shareholder meeting.

Shareholders will convene on April 29 to discuss the payment of dividend and the appointment of a new board member to replace Daniel Tepes, who resigned.

Another item on the meeting agenda is the merger with Sibiu bourse Sibex.

BVB stock closed down 0.7% Tuesday, to RON43.05.
