Shares Fall Towards Closing Bell, Trading Value Declines

The Bucharest bourse closed down Monday, after staying in green for most of the session, with a sharper decline of the five regional investment funds SIFs.

The Bucharest bourse closed down Monday, after staying in green for most of the session, with a sharper decline of the five regional investment funds SIFs.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C closed down 0.66% on the day, to 3,509.41, while the 10-share blue-chip index BET dropped 0.56% to 5,900.04.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five SIFs, fell 2.17% on the day, to 25,502.81.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, closed at 547.3, down 1.21% on the day, while energy companies index BET-NG dropped 1.14%, to 823.62.

Trades unfolded Monday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to 32.58 million lei (EUR1=RON4.0869), less than the RON43.21 million value registered at closing Friday.

The Proprietatea fund was the day's top-traded issuer. Its shares fell 0.34% on the day, to RON0.584, on a traded value of RON9.61 million.

The shares of lender Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) rose 1.24% on the day, to RON1.549, while those of BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) closed flat at RON14.8.

SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) stock dropped 3.21% on the day, to RON1.536.

The shares of state-owned electricity transporter Transelectrica (TEL.RO) fell 2.33% on the day, to RON21.
