German group Bosch plans to build its second factory in Romania, in a greenfield investment, and to expand the other plant, Wednesday said Brigitte Eble, general manager of the group’s Romanian subsidiary.

The company official added Bosch will apply for investment-support facilities from the government.

People within the company told MEDIAFAX the new plant will target the auto segment.

Bosch Romania plans to hire up to 300 people this year for the Rexroth plant (central Romania) and the Communication Center in western Romanian city Timisoara.

For this year, the subsidiary expects sales to rise 7% to EUR172 million. Last year, the company reported sales of EUR161 million, up 17% on the year.

Eble said some 60% of the company's sales comes from the auto segment, which includes aftermarket parts supplied to car makers. Consumer goods weigh 27% in sales, while industrial machinery sales account for 13%.

The Bosch group entered Romania in 1994 and it holds five firms locally, namely Robert Bosch SRL, BSH Electrocasnice, Bosch-Rexroth and Bosch Communication Center.

At the end of 2010, the company had some 1,200 employees, 200 more than in 2009.
