Registrations Of Renault, Dacia Cars In Germany Down 6% In April, To 12,900 Units

Registrations of Renault and Dacia cars in Germany fell 6% in April, to 12,900 units, while the overall German car market increased by 2.6%, to 266,300 cars, according to data released by Germany's motor vehicle department KBA.

Eighteen of the 32 car brands included in the survey registered a decrease in sales in April.

Renault and Dacia registered a 4.8% market share in April this year.

Volkswagen was market leader regarding sales, with a market share of about 23%, and was followed by BMW-Mini (9.6%), Mercedes (8.3%), Audi (8.1%), Opel (7.8%), Ford (7.3%), Renault-Dacia and Skoda (3.7%).

Renault-Dacia registrations were up 13.2% in the first four months of the year, to 53,600 units. The overall German car market increased 10.7%, to 1.03 million units.

The French group's market share increased to 5.2% in January-April 2011, from 5.1% in the same interval last year.

German group Volkswagen was market leader in the first four months (with a 22.1% market share) and was followed by BMW-Mini (8.8%), Mercedes (8.2%), Opel (7.8%), Audi (7.6%), Ford (7.3%), Renault-Dacia and Skoda (4.5%).
