05.27.2015 By Gabriela Stan

Romania joined the European Union, it has macroeconomic stability, inflation has slowed down in the last ten years, the exchange rate is stable (…), and these evolutions mirror the number of mergers, which faced a sharp fall over the last years, Bogdan Chiriţoiu, head of Romania's Competition Council, stated at “Key players in the economy” event, organized by Ziarul Financiar.

Chiritoiu said that the number of mergers halved during the years of crisis to 40-50 per year, but has lately started to increase, and the upward trend will continue in the future.

Competition Council head added that Romania has certain sectors with high competition and low prices compared with the European Union.
