CIROM: Romania Should Have Concrete Highways Like Western European Countries

05.26.2015 By Gabriela Stan

Romanian producers have been trying unsuccessfully to convince authorities to build concrete highways for 10-15 years, but it is a political decision, Mihai Rohan, head of Romanian Association of Cement Producers CIROM, told ZF Construction & Infrastructure conference.

Rohan said that maintenance costs are fivefold lower for concrete highways, as it is a local product, adding that Germany and Hungary already started to build such highways due to the climate change in Europe.

CIROM head added that the cement market grew 10% in the first quarter of 2015, but still lacks big projects and infrastructure projects.
