Enel Green Power, the renewable energy unit of Italian utility Enel, Tuesday said it has started works on its third wind farm in Romania, a 70-MW project in the southeastern county of Tulcea.

"The construction of the Corugea plant and of other plants already underway, will increase our installed capacity in Romania to 244 MW, confirming our growth strategy in a country that has great potential for wind power development," said Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power.

The wind farm will have an installed power of 70 MW and will produce an annual 189 million kWh, enough to supply 70,000 households, the company said in a news release.

Enel Green Power holds another two wind projects in Romania, namely Salbatica I and Agighiol, with an installed capacity of 64 MW.

The Enel group has 2.6 million clients and 5,000 employees in Romania.

The company is active on the electricity distribution and supply market since 2005.
