GE Vice Chairman: Engineering Will Be The Most Sought-After Field In The Future

John Rice, vice-chairman of General Electric, a US industrial conglomerate with a turnover of $147 billion in 2011, says the most sought-after skills in the future will be the “easily transferable” ones used in jobs such as electricians, mechanical and chemical engineers, as well as software developers. He says it is difficult to anticipate which industries will be the most successful in the next 30 years, but the basic engineering skills will be the most sought after, Rice told Ziarul Financiar in a meeting.
