Nuclearelectrica Restarts Reactor After 1-Month Maintenance Works

06.02.2015 By Gabriela Stan

Romanian nuclear power company Nuclearelectrica (SNN.RO) reconnected one of the reactors of nuclear power plant in Cernavoda to the power grid, after it was shut down on May 8 for maintenance works.

The planned outage involved preventive and corrective maintenance works which are performed once every two years for each unit, the company said Tuesday.

"All the objectives assumed during the planned outage were accomplished under safe conditions for the plant personnel, public and environment, in accordance with the procedures applied by Cernavoda NPP,” Daniela Lulache, Nuclearelectrica general manager, said in a statement.

Nuclearelectrica operates Romania’s sole nuclear power plant in Cernavoda, whose two 700-megawatt reactors cover around 18% of the country’s electricity consumption.
