Romania’s power output rose 1.5% on the year in January to February, while the country’s total energy resources dropped 1%, the National Statistics Institute said Thursday.

Power output reached 3.84 million tons of oil equivalent in the interval analyzed, while imports fell 6.7% on the year to 1.54 million toe.

As a result, the country's energy resources reached 5.35 million toe in the same period, the statistics data showed.

In January to February, thermal power output rose 5.9% on the year, while hydropower output increased by 23.1%.

Nuclear power output was up 1.6% compared with the same interval of 2010.

Electric power resources rose 8.6% on the year, at 11.5 billion KWh, mainly on a 9.6% production increase.

Electricity consumption grew by 2.5% on the year to 9.02 billion KWh in the analyzed period.

Power exports rose by 615 million KWh in January-February, namely by 282.3% compared with the year-earlier period.
