Romania plans to sell its excess green certificates to another state, economy ministry official Alexandru Sandulescu told an energy seminar Thursday.

"There are EU member states who said they cannot secure all the green certificates they need," Sandulescu told a seminar organized by business daily Ziarul Financiar.

Sandulescu, the ministry's energy department director, added the law supporting local renewable energy production still requires the European Commission's approval for the state aid scheme using green certificates.

"We have completed informal talks with the Europan Commission and we hope there will be no additional questions. (…) This is the only obstacle left in applying the state aid scheme," Sandulescu said.
