05.18.2011 By Andrei Circhelan

Romanian state-owned power grid operator Transelectrica (TEL.RO) on Wednesday launched the Tariverde transformer station, in Constanta county, which will receive electricity from the wind farms in southeast Romania.

"The Tariverde station will link an overall installed capacity of more than 2,000 MW to the national power grid," Transelectrica general manager Horia Hahaianu said in a news release.

Construction took two years and entailed an overall cost of EUR26.5 million.

Works were partly financed by Czech utilities group CEZ, which develops a 600-MW wind project in the region.
