Zentiva Romania's Net Profit Slightly Down To RON19.4M In First Quarter

Drug maker Zentiva Romania (SCD.RO) reported a net profit of 19.43 million lei (EUR4.7 million) in January to March, slightly down from RON19.5 million in the same period of 2010, on lower sales, the company said in its financial report Friday.

Zentiva reported turnover of RON64.7 million, down 3.9% from RON67.35 million in the first quarter of 2010.

Revenue rose 6.5% on the year to RON70.4 million, while total costs were up 10.8% to RON47.8 million.

Zentiva, majority owned by French pharmaceutical group Sanofi-Aventis, had 554 employees at the end of March, down from 581 in the same period a year ago.

Friday in Bucharest, Zentiva closed down 6.7% at RON1.19 a share. (EUR1=RON4.106)
