Mihai Ghyka Steps Down As Bergenbier CEO

05.03.2011 By Andrei Circhelan

Romanian brewer Bergenbier announced Tuesday that chief executive officer Mihai Ghyka resigned, and he will be replaced with Jens Hoesel, former chief sales officer of the StarBev group.

Ghyka, 39, resigned one year and four months after returning to the company's helm in January 2010.

Hoesel has been the chief sales officer of the StarBev group, which includes Bergenbier, since December 2010. Previously, he was the chief executive officer of Dutch AB InBev.

CVC Capital Partners took over Bergenbier in 2009, and included it in the newly formed group StarBev, which clusters all of the fund's beer production and distribution operations.

Bergenbier was launched on the Romanian market in 1994, and it has two plants and 730 employees.
