Tallest Office Tower In Bucharest Grows By One Floor Every Ten Days

11.01.2011 By Cristi Moga

The mild autumn has been really helpful to the developers and the builder of the tallest office tower in Bucharest, Sky Tower, close to the Aurel Vlaicu subway station in the northern part of the city, so that five of the thirty-six stories of the building have been completed in less than two months. The new tower will have Austrian bank Raiffeisen as tenant.

If the construction pace maintains, Sky Tower will be completed by the end of next year and will be possible to deliver in 2013.

It is developed by Austrian group Raiffeisen Evolution and the general contractor is another Austrian company, Strabag.

Thirty-six stories and 137 meters tall, Sky Tower is supposed to become a landmark for Bucharest, considering the city only has high-rise buildings of up to 24 floors and 100 meters. As the number of floors increases, work will become more and more difficult to do.

Sky Tower is being developed in an area with several new office projects, such as Lakeview, Nusco Tower and Floreasca Business Park, which it will dominate, as it is located amid these buildings.

Raiffeisen Evolution also has an area set aside for the building of mall on the same plot of land, but does not appear to have started work on it yet. The cost of the entire complex (mall and office tower) was estimated at EUR250 million in 2008.
