Durable Goods Market Widens 10% In First Quarter - GfK

The durable consumer goods market widened by 10.7% on the year in the first quarter of 2011, to EUR307 million, according to a GfK Temax survey released Tuesday.

The greatest decreases were seen by the printers and multipurpose machines segment, which dropped 23.3%, and the office equipment segment, down 20% on the year.

Large household appliance sales stagnated at EUR59 million in the first quarter, compared to the same interval of the previous year, while small appliance sales widened by 6.5%, to EUR23 million.

Photo segment sales reached EUR9 million, as digital camera sales increased by 28.6% on the year, according to the GfK survey.

GfK Temax Romania is an index developed by GfK Retail and Technology to monitor the durable goods market.
