BenQ Romania 2010 Sales Up 40% On Year, To EUR7M

IT equipment maker BenQ posted sales of EUR7 million in Romania last year, up 40% on 2009, due to IT market recovery and the new products launched, BenQ Romania director Dragos Salamac told a news conference Tuesday.

"We've managed to secure growth by promoting new technologies to relaunch demand, and through a strategy adapted to each category of products," Salamac said.

LCD monitors covered 55% of the companies sales. Last year, BenQ Romania sold 30,000 LCD monitors, 26% more than in the previous year.

"At the end of 2010, BenQ had a market share of 8.33% on this segment. For 2011, we are planning a 10% market share," Salamac also said.

The company's projector sales more than doubled in volume, while the number of sold compact cameras was up 37% on the year, BenQ official said.

This year, the company plans to consolidate its position on the local technology market, aiming at a 25%-30% rise in sales compared to 2010.

Taiwanese BenQ is active in Romanai since 2002, through distribution partners.
