Software Provider Brinel Posts 60% Increase in 2010 Sales

05.16.2011 By Andrei Circhelan

Romanian IT solutions supplier Brinel Cluj-Napoca posted a 60% rise in sales last year, from 77 million lei (EUR18.85 million) in 2009, and managed a switch to profit.

"Our main achievement in 2010 was a return to growth. Over 60% year-on-year increase gave us confidence and allowed us to come out of gray areas," Brinel's general manager Marcel Borodi told MEDIAFAX.

He added profit was mainly achieved through careful cost control.

"Dangers came mostly from the risk of insolvencies faced by some of our clients and suppliers," Borodi said.

This year, the company plans to maintain sales growth and to stay profitable, by a single-digit margin.

In addition, Brinel plans to expand locally.

In the first quarter of 2011, Brinel revenue dropped some 5% year-on-year, while profitability saw some negative seasonal adjustment.

The company has some 140 employees in its four centers, located in Cluj, Sibiu, Oradea and Bucharest.

Brinel was founded in 1991 as a producer and integrator of ready-made software solutions. The company is owned by the Borodi family.
