BNR: FDI Inflow Drops 22% In First Quarter, To EUR379M

Romanian foreign direct investment, or FDI, fell 22% to EUR379 million in the first quarter, from EUR486 million in the same period a year ago, the central bank said Monday.

Intra-group loans amounted to EUR290 million, while equity stakes (consolidated with estimated net loss) stood at EUR89 million.

Romania's current account deficit widened to EUR634 million in January-March, and FDI covered almost 60% of the gap, central bank data showed.
