Foreign Investment In Romania Up To EUR1.66B In First Half

Romanian foreign direct investment, or FDI, rose to 1.66 billion euros in the first six months, from EUR1.19 billion in the same period of 2014, data from the central bank showed Thursday.

Of the total FDI, equity stakes (including estimated net reinvestment of earnings) reached EUR943 million, and net intra-group lending was of EUR716 million.

In 2014, the FDI stood at EUR2.43 billion, down from EUR2.7 billion in the previous year.

Romania's current account balance posted a deficit of EUR285 million in the first six months, from a deficit of EUR863 million in the same period of last year.
