Foreign Investments Rise 30% To EUR570M In January-March

Romanian foreign direct investment, or FDI, rose 30.1% on the year to EUR570 million in the first three months of the year, the central bank said Thursday.

Of the total FDI, equity stakes reached EUR514 million, while intra-group loans were at EUR56 million.

Romania's current account balance posted a deficit of EUR261 million in January-March, versus surplus in the year-earlier period, due to a wider income deficits.

Foreign direct investment in Romania rose 26.7% on the year to EUR2.72 billion in 2013, the highest level in four years.
