INS: Romania Adjusted Construction Works Down 9.7% On Year In January

Romanian construction works fell 9.7% in January from the year-earlier month, on lower activity in most sectors, the statistics institute INS said Tuesday.

New constructions were down 16.5% on the year in January, while maintenance works dropped 1.8%. Capital repair works, on the other hand, were up 46.8% from January 2012, in data adjusted for number of working days and seasonal factors.

Compared with December, adjusted construction works fell 2.3% in January. Maintenance works were down 10.1% on the month, while new constructions decreased by 7.3%. Capital repair works were up 8.8% in January compared with the previous month.

In unadjusted data, Romanian construction works fell 11.2% on the year in January.
