INS: Romania March PPI +1.1% On Month, +11% On Year

Romania’s industrial producer price index rose for a fifteenth straight month in March, fueled by increases in manufacturing and utility sectors, the country’s statistics institute INS said Tuesday.

Industrial prices were up 1.1% on the month in March, after a 0.8% increase in February.

By sector, prices in the manufacturing industry rose 1.4% in March, while utility prices increased by 1% on the month.

However, prices in the mining and energy sectors declined 1.4% and 0.3% on the month, respectively.

In annual terms, industrial prices rose 11% in March, boosted by higher prices in all sectors, the data showed.

Manufacturing prices increased 13.3% in March from the year-earlier month, while prices in the utility and mining sectors rose by 8.7% and 5.9% on the year, respectively.

Energy prices inched up 0.7% in March compared with the same month of 2010.
