INS: Romania’s Industrial Production Rises 3.1% In First Half

Romania’s industrial production rose 3.1% in the first half against the same period of 2014, due to higher output in the manufacturing sector, the country’s statistics institute INS said Tuesday.

The production adjusted for the number of working days and seasonal factors in the manufacturing industry rose 3.5% on the year in the first six months, while mining industry output fell 5.2%. Production in the utility sector was the same as in the first half of 2014, the data showed.

In June alone, the industrial production was up 1.7% in adjusted data compared with May. Production in the utility sector rose 2.3% on the month in June, but output in the manufacturing and mining sectors went down 1.7% and 2.5%, respectively, the statistics office said.

Compared with June 2014, Romania’s industrial production was up 2.7% in adjusted data. Output in the utility sector rose 5% year-on-year in June, manufacturing industry production increased 0.9%, while mining sector output fell 5.9%.

In unadjusted data, Romanian industrial production went up 2.6% on the month in June, and was 3.1% higher compared with the same period of 2014.
