Romania’s industrial production rose 12.7% on the year in February, the seventh biggest increase in the European Union, official data showed Wednesday.

The EU's average growth was 7% in February compared with the year-earlier month, EU's statistics office Eurostat said.

Industrial production rose in all member states for which data are available, except Greece (-4.6%) and Ireland (-0.4%). The highest increases were registered in Estonia (+31.3%), Sweden (+15.9%) and Bulgaria (+15.2%).

In February compared with a month earlier, industrial production rose in thirteen EU states and fell in ten.

The highest increases were registered in Portugal and Slovenia (both +1.7%), Germany, Italy and Poland (all +1.4%), and the largest decreases in Malta (-5.8%), Denmark (-2.7%) and Ireland (-2.5%).

Romania's industrial output inched up 0.3% on the month in February, while EU's average production was up 0.2%.
