Romania Producer Prices Post 4th Largest Growth In EU In March

Romanian industrial producer prices posted the fourth largest annual increase in the European Union in March, official data showed Tuesday.

Industrial prices in Romania rose 9.5% on the year in March, above the EU's average growth of 7.4%, the European bloc's statistics office Eurostat said.

The biggest annual increases were registered in Bulgaria (+12.1%), the Netherlands (+10.8%), the United Kingdom (+10.7%) and Romania, and the smallest in Malta (+0.9%), Sweden (+2.9%), Slovakia (+3.3%) and Cyprus (+4.4%).

In monthly terms, Romanian industrial prices inched up 1% in March, matching EU average growth figures.

The largest monthly increases in the EU's total index were recorded in United Kingdom (+3%), Denmark (+2.1%), Greece (+1.5%) and Finland (+1.3%), and the smallest in Hungary and Malta (both +0.1%), Sweden (+0.2%) and Latvia (+0.3%).

According to the Romanian statistics institute INS, industrial producer prices rose 1.1% on the month in March and were up 11% compared with the year-earlier period.
