Romanians remain most pessimistic about the state of the economy, with over 50% saying the crisis will not end for another two to five years, according to a survey from market researcher ISRA Center.

"Economic confidence among urban population is rather low. Most of the respondents (92%) estimate price increases in 2011," the survey noted.

The researcher said only 5% of the polled people expect the economy will emerge from recession in less than one year.

"There's also the category of 'extreme pessimists', who say the crisis will last longer than five years," ISRA Center said in its survey.

On a geographical basis, Romanians in central and southern regions are gloomier about the local economy, while people in northeast are more optimistic, the survey noted.
