Romania's Prime Minister Emil Boc on Friday said a new labor minister will be appointed after the Easter holiday, following talks within the ruling Democratic Liberal Party.

Boc on Friday took over as acting labor minister, following the resignation of Ioan Botis amid a scandal involving a potential conflict of interest.

The new labor minister will be a member of the Democratic Liberal Party, Boc said. A Cabinet reshuffle changing the political algorithm would require a confidence vote in Parliament.

President Traian Basescu on Thursday signed the decrees acknowledging Ioan Botis' resignation and appointing Prime Minister Emil Boc acting labor minister.

Boc had appointed state secretary Nicolae Ivaschescu as interim minister and said a new minister would be appointed in the upcoming days.

Botis resigned Wednesday morning after talks with Boc, amid allegations of a potential conflict of interest raised by the fact that his wife is an adviser on a EU and Government-funded project.
