French Interior Minister Claude Gueant said Monday Paris witnesses an increase in delinquency committed by Romanians.

The minister said half of Romanian delinquents in Paris are teenagers and highlighted French and Romanian authorities cooperate to eradicate crime.

In 2010, Romanians committed over 4,000 offences in France, three times more than in 2008, according to data presented by Gueant. About 30% of teenagers involved in illegal acts in Paris are Romanians.

Gueant met in Bucharest with his Romanian counterpart, Traian Igas, who said three Romanian police officers are already in Paris to help French authorities and eleven others will be assigned to the west European capital on May 2.

According to Gueant, several Romanian magistrates will also be transferred to France to offer help. He said Romania and France will restart a program providing financial help to those who want to return to their home country.
